President's Message

Hello Members!

SGMP is the only organization focusing exclusively on the needs in the government meeting planning industry.    Our membership is comprised of government meeting professionals throughout the state of Arizona, New Mexico and Nevada. We are a chapter that likes to have fun while conducting business and have built a strong network.

We offer professional development education, networking with suppliers and valuable resources. We provide interesting educational topics, and fun networking events. We plan a fun members appreciation event in March and a getaway retreat for all in July.

SGMP  - What's in it for me?

Plenty!  It can make your work easier and your life more fun!

Here's a few reasons you should join or remain a valuable member:

  1. To enhance your personal and professional development
  2. To recieve education in basic and advanced areas of meeting planning through the Chapter meetings
  3. To participate in training seminars and workshops
  4. To learn about trends for successful meetings
  5. To earn continuing education credits or hours
  6. To earn professional certifications - CGMP or CMP
  7. To have access to a variety of resources to get your job done faster

I'm a proud member of SGMP and believe that our Board coordinates the best possible meetings for your benefit.

In July, the Arizona Board completed the business plan and the annual budget for 2017-2019.  We have planned for a very busy year for you!  Our vision is to increase our membership and provide our members excellent educational opportunities, networking, and shared resources to help them succeed in their professional careers.

Each of our monthly meetings this year will be focused on the seven core competencies of meeting planning as established by the National Organization.  This will allow us to provide our members the opportunity for the highest quality training in the government meeting profession.

 *Education/Programming          *Facilities and Services           *Logistics

*Financial and Contract Management          *Technology           *Leadership          *Ethics

If you are not currently a member, I invite you to join our Chapter and to consider ways for getting involved and engaging with us in our commitment to excellence.  If you are a member, I encourage you to volunteer on a committee today.  We are looking for energetic members to work on all of our committees. Participation on a chapter committee will encourage you to cultivate professional relationships, discover valuable skill sets and create lasting friendships among our members.  Your committee work may also qualify you for a  Scholarship to attend the National Education Conference.  Our goal is to send 4 members to NEC this year, the committees have been busy!

I hope to see you at one of the monthly 3rd Wednesday meetings to learn what SGMPAZ can do for you!

Warm Regards,

The Arizona Board
